Solomeno Totals Four RBI's as Baseball Cruises Past Saint Rose 18-8

ALBANY, N.Y.- Joe Solomeno (Holbrook , NY/Sachem East) (Holbrook, NY/Sachem East) drove in four runs as the Setters cruised past the Golden Knights of Saint Rose 18-8 in Northeast-10 Conference Southwest Division action. The Setters improve to 12-7 overall and 1-1 in the division, while the Golden Knights fall to 3-21 and 0-1 in division play.

The Setters got on board in the first two innings as James Pjura (Shelton, CT/Shelton) (Shelton, CT/Shelton) drove in the first run with a groundout and put the Setters up 2-0. The Golden Knights pulled even with two runs on their half of the first but the Setters retook the lead in the second. It was Pjura and Solomeno coming through again for Pace as Pjura put the Setters up a run with a single. Solomeno staked the Setters to a 5-2 lead with a two-run double. 

Pace added two runs in the third inning and broke the game open in the sixth as they plated eight runs in the frame. Jon Kovel (Schenectady, NY/Scotia Glenville) (Schenectady, NY/Scotia Glenville) and Ian Wukitsch (Morristown, NJ/Morristown) (Morristown, NJ/Morristown) both had key hits in the inning with two-run singles for Pace. The Setters added three more in the ninth inning for the final tally.

Solomeno finished 3-for-5 in the game with four RBI's while Pjura totaled two RBI's and scored two runs. Charlie Galasso (West Harrison, NY/Harrison) (West Harrison, NY/Harrison) went 4-for-6 with two RBI's and two runs scored, while Brandon Martineson (Prospect, KY/Warwick (NY)) (Prospect, KY/Warwick) went 3-for-4 and scored four times. Wukitsch collected three hits in six at-bats with three RBI's as the Setters totaled 20 hits in the contest.

Neil Pezzullo (Harwich, MA/Harwich) got the start, going eight solid innings, allowing four runs on nine hits and struck out seven, to improve to 3-1 on the season.

The Setters and the Golden Knights wrap up their three-game series on Saturday, March 30 with a doubleheader at Bob Bellizzi Field in Albany, NY.
