ORANGEBURG, NY – The Pace University women's basketball team returned from their Thanksgiving break, making the short trip into Rockland County. Despite a second half comeback, the Setters were upended by the Dominican Chargers 61-54.
Junior Shanice Maynard (Camden, NJ/Woodrow Wilson / Coppin State) (Camden, NJ/Woodrow Wilson) led the Setters with her first double-double in a Pace uniform, notching a career-high with 22 points and also setting a new personal best with 12 rebounds. Freshman Loren Kaiser (Stewartsville, NJ/Phillipsburg) (Stewartsville, NJ/Phillipsburg) chipped in with 11 points off the bench.
The Setters trailed 47-27 with 12:40 remaining in the second half before embarking on a 13-4 run, capped by a pair of Maynard triples to slice the lead to 51-40 at the 7:05 mark. After a brief 6-0 spurt for the Chargers, the Pace defense tightened up again, while the offense kicked back into gear. Kaiser tallied four straight free throws and junior Margo Hackett (Pawling, NY/Pawling) had a three-pointer and added two at the line to help cut the deficit to 57-47.
The Setters continue their three-game road trip with a Northeast-10 Conference match against Le Moyne Saturday at 12:00 pm in Syracuse, NY
