ALBANY, NY- The Pace women's basketball team fell in their Northeast-10 Conference opener 58-48 to The College of Saint Rose Golden Knights. The Setters fall to 0-4 on the season and 0-1 in the NE-10, while the Golden Knights improve to 3-2 and 1-1 in conference play.
The Setters jumped out to an early 13-4 lead behind three triples from Margo Hackett (Pawling, NY/Pawling) (Pawling, NY/Pawling). The Golden Knights battled back to even the score at 17 midway through the half and pushed ahead to a 35-21 lead at the break.
Pace closed the gap early in the second half as a Jeane Drury (Flanders, NJ/Morris Catholic) (Flanders, NJ/Morris Catholic) triple pulled the Setters to within 12 points at 43-31 with 16 minutes left in the game. The Golden Knights stretched their lead to 21 points before Pace rallied to close it at 10 points in the final minute of play.
For the Setters, Hackett led the way with 12 points on 4-for-5 shooting from downtown along with two assists. Yuni Sher (Poughkeepsie, NY/Long Island Lutheran) (Poughkeepsie, NY/Long Island Lutheran) totaled 12 points and two assists, while grabbing a team-high six boards. Drury finished with six points and five rebounds, while Alexa Dietrich (Queens, NY/Archbishop Molloy) added four points, three rebounds and three assists.
The Setters return to action on Saturday, November 23 as they will host the Chargers of the University of New Haven in at NE-10 clash set for 1:30 pm.
