PLEASANTVILLE, NY- Yuni Sher (Poughkeepsie, NY/Long Island Lutheran) (Poughkeepsie, NY/Long Island Lutheran) recorded a double-double as the women's basketball team fell to the Chargers of the University of New Haven 76-50 in Northeast-10 Conference action.
The Setters fall to 0-5 on the season and 0-2 in the NE-10, while the Chargers improve to 4-0 and 2-0 in conference play.
The Chargers jumped out to a nine point advantage midway through the opening half. The Setters closed to within seven points on a Shanice Allen (Riverhead, NY/Riverhead) (Riverhead, NY/Riverhead) lay-up at the 4:25 mark New Haven stretched the score to 13 points before a late triple by Margo Hackett (Pawling, NY/Pawling) (Pawling, NY/Pawling) made in a 43-33 Charger lead heading into halftime.
Pace pulled to within eight points two minutes into the second half on a Sher three-point play. New Haven extended their lead to double figures with a 10-2 burst and held a double digit lead the rest of the way.
For Pace, Sher totaled 13 points and 13 rebounds, while Shanice Maynard (Camden, NJ/Woodrow Wilson / Coppin State) (Camden, NJ/Woodrow Wilson) added nine points, five boards and three assists. Hackett finished with seven points and three assists, while Loren Kaiser (Stewartsville, NJ/Phillipsburg) (Stewartsville, NJ/Phillipsburg) recorded nine points off the bench. Alexa Dietrich (Queens, NY/Archbishop Molloy) dished out four assists.
The Setters will host the Owls of Southern Connecticut State University on Tuesday, November 26 at 5:30 pm in an NE-10 match-up.
