PLEASANTVILLE, NY – Sophomore Rachel Dortch (Columbus, NJ/Northern Burlington) (Columbus, NJ/Northern Burlington) earned career highs in both points and rebounds as the Pace University women's basketball team was upended 80-67 by the LIU Post Pioneers in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.
Dortch netted 22 points, going 6-for-12 from the floor, to go along with 10 free throws. She also pulled in nine rebounds. Alexa Dietrich (Queens, NY/Archbishop Molloy) (Queens, NY/Archbishop Molloy) scored a career-high 11 points and junior Shanice Maynard (Camden, NJ/Woodrow Wilson) tallied 10 points in just 14 minutes.
The game was close through the first half as neither team had more than a four point lead at any juncture. There were 10 ties and 10 lead changes in the half as well. The Setters shot 48% from the field for the stanza with Dortch scoring 13 points.
Pace (0-3) started the second half well, scoring the first points on a layup by Dortch to take a 41-40 at the 18:56 mark. Following that, the Pioneers (2-1) netted 21 of the next 25 points in a seven minute span to take the lead for good.
Next up for the Setters is their first Northeast-10 Conference game of the season against Saint Rose in Albany, NY. Tipoff is slated for 5:30 pm.
