Setters Pull Exciting Win Over Bentley Falcons

BRIARCLIFF, N.Y.- The Setters pulled out an impressive win over the Falcons of Bentley University 3-1.  The Falcons fall to 3-4-2 overall and 1-4-2 in the NE-10, while the Setters advance to 4-3-3 overall and 4-2-1 in conference play. 

The Setters opened up the first half strong and aggressive.  Sophomore Jillian Ferro (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) scored the first goal of the game, her fifth of the season at the 21 minute mark on an assist from Lauren Foballe (Glastonbury, CT/Watkinson) (Glastonbury, CT/Watkinson).  Freshman Brittany Trymbulak (South Glastonbury, CT/Glastonbury) (South Glastonbury, CT/Glastonbury) scored her second goal of the season which proved to be the eventual game-winner ten minutes later to put the Setters up 2-0 going into the half. Geena Kooner (Hopewell Junction, NY/John Jay) (Hopewell Junction, NY/John Jay) was credited for the assist.

The Setters maintained the lead for a majority of the second half but fell short of the shutout when Sam Ford of Bentley put the ball in the net at 83:41.  Ferro scored her sixth season goal at 87:49 on an assist from Trymbulak to put the Setters up 3-1.  Bentley was unable to respond before the clock ran out. 

Pace out-shot Bentley 18-7, 9-3 in the first half and 9-4 in the second, respectively.  Christiana Hynds spent 90 minutes in the goal for the Falcons and recorded six saves while Courtany Hagen (New Paltz, NY/New Paltz) also spent 90 minutes in net to total four saves.

The Setters host conference match-up Adelphi on Tuesday, October 2 at 4 pm at Pace Field.
