Pace Falls to Adelphi 3-0

BRIARCLIFF, N.Y.- The Setters lost to the Panthers of Adelphi University, 3-0, in 90 minutes of intermittent rainfall.  The Panthers advance to 6-3-2 overall and 3-3-2 in the NE-10 while the Setters drop to 4-4-3 overall and 4-3-1 in conference play.

Emily Masiello scored for Adelphi close to five minutes into the game for the Panthers to take an early lead.  The two teams shot identically at seven a piece on goal in the first half.  Sam Whitney recorded five saves for Adelphi in the first half, while Pace's Courtany Hagen (New Paltz, NY/New Paltz) recorded three.

The rain really picked up for the second half as the two teams battled to win possessions.  Olivia Czavar of Adelphi scored their second goal on an assist from Alison Gronenthal at the 52:00 minute mark.  Kaitlin Monteith netted their third and final goal at 80:42.  Towards the end of regulation, the game evolved into not only a battle between the two teams, but also against the rain.

Whitney finished with 90 minutes in goal and eight total saves on the day while Hagen also spent a full 90 minutes in goal with a total of five saves.  Adelphi totaled 14 shots to Pace's 12 on the game.

The Setters will travel to UMass-Lowell on Saturday, October 6 for a 1 pm conference match-up.
