PLEASANTVILLE, N .Y.- The Setters lost both matches on the final day of the Pace Tournament. Pace fell to Nova Southeastern 3-1 (18-25, 25-20, 21-25, 12-25) and fell in a heartbreaker to Texas A&M International 3-2 (25-23, 25-18, 24-26, 19-25, 13-15). Pace falls to 6-11 on the season.
In the opening match against Nova Southeastern, Megan Kurz (San Diego, Calif./Patrick Henry) (San Diego, CA/Patrick Henry) and Susan Verdugo-Del Real (Chula Vista, CA/Southwest) both registered nine kills with Kurz adding five digs and Verdugo Del Real totaling six digs. Brooke Speyerer (Winter Haven, FL/Lake Region) (Winter Haven, FL/Lake Region) tallied 26 assists and 12 digs, while Elyse Rowland (Antioch, CA/Deer Valley) (Antioch, CA/Deer Valley) totaled 20 digs.
The Setters fell in the set match of the day to Texas A&M International Dust Devils. Kurz along with Nora Rugova (Mt. Kisco, NY/Fox Lane) (Mt. Kisco, NY/Fox Lane) both recorded 16 kills, with Rugova netting 16 digs and Kurz finishing with 11 digs. Speyerer totaled 42 assists and 13 digs, while Rowland posted 35 digs. Verdugo Del Real tallied 10 kills, 11 digs along with five aces. Kelsey Mazurek (Easton, PA/Easton Area) added nine kills and three aces.
The Setters return to action as they will open their Northeast-10 Conference schedule as they will host Bentley University at 11 am at the Goldstein Fitness Center on Saturday, September 29.
