PLEASANTVILLE, N .Y.- The Setters split two matches on the opening day of the Pace Tournament as they fell to St. Mary's 3-2 and defeated Molloy 3-1. Pace is now 6-9 on the season.
In the opening match against St. Mary, Rattlers took the first two sets, 27-25, 25-23, while Pace took the next two 25-18 and 25-20. St. Mary's clipped the Setters in the final set 15-13. Nora Rugova (Mt. Kisco, NY/Fox Lane) (Mt. Kisco, NY/Fox Lane) led the Setters with 16 kills and 12 digs, while Tamilee Webb (Hartsdale, NY/Ardsley) (Hartsdale, NY/Ardsley) finished with 14 kills and six blocks. Elyse Rowland (Antioch, CA/Deer Valley) (Antioch, CA/Deer Valley) totaled 23 digs, while Brooke Speyerer (Winter Haven, FL/Lake Region) (Winter Haven, FL/Lake Region) tallied 45 assists and 15 digs.
In the win over Molloy, the Setters took the first two sets 25-22 and 28-26, while the Lions took set three 25-20. Pace took home the victory with a 29-27 win for a 3-1 match victory. Megan Kurz (San Diego, CA/Patrick Henry) led Pace with 18 kills, while Webb finished with 11 kills. Rugova, netted nine kills, while Rowland tallied 24 digs. Speyerer recorded 51 assists and 13 digs.
The Setters conclude their home tournament on Saturday, September 22 as they will face Nova Southeastern at noon and Texas A&M International at 4 pm.
