BRIARCLIFF, N.Y.- Jillian Ferro (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) registered a goal and an assist as the Setters tied the Knights of Queens College in non-conference action. Pace moves to 0-1-1, while the Knights are now 1-0-1 on the season.
A competitive first half of play by both teams resulted in a one goal for the Knights in the 41st minute of play. The Setters rallied in the second half as Ferro got Pace on the board at the 72:53 mark. The Setters took the lead less than four minutes later as Ferro kicked the ball from the left side to the middle of the field to teammate Amanda Mundorf (Westfield, MA/Westfield) (Westfield, MA/Westfield), who booted in the goal to put Pace up 2-1. Queens answered with the equalizer as the Setters were called for a foul in the box and the Knights scored on the ensuing penalty kick.
As time ticked off in regulation, both teams had opportunities as Queens had a shot go high, while the Setters two shots down the stretch with the second chance coming with less than 10 seconds to play. The teams headed for overtime as Setters netminder Courtany Hagen (New Paltz, NY/New Paltz) recorded three clutch saves in the extra periods. Pace has a few chances on offense but neither team broke the tie and the game finished a 2-2 draw.
Ferro netted her second goal of the season, while Mundorf tallied her first tally of the season. Hagen was again solid in net as she played 110 minutes and recorded 12 saves.
The Setters wrap up their early season non-conference slate as they will host Wilmington University at 4 pm on Pace's Briarcliff Campus.
