WORCESTER, Mass.- The Pace Women's soccer team finished in a 2-2 tie with the Greyhounds of Assumption College in Northeast-10 Conference action. The Setters are now 2-2-3 overall and 2-1-1 in the NE-10, while the Greyhounds are now 2-3-1 and 2-1-1 in conference play.
Assumption struck first as they scored in the fourth minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Setters rallied with a pair of first half goals. Pace was able to capitalize on an Assumption foul in the box as they were awarded a penalty kick. Olivia Mapplethorpe (Wilbraham, MA/Minnechaug Regional) (Wilbraham, MA/Minnechaug Regional) tied the game at 1-1 off the penalty kick at the 14:48 mark. The Setters took the lead less than four minutes later as Amanda Mundorf (Westfield, MA/Westfield) (Westfield, MA/Westfield) scored to put Pace up 2-1.
The Greyhounds tied the score at two early in the second half as the teams battled out the final minutes. Assumption posted four shots to Pace's two in the final 40 minutes of regulation with the Greyhounds had a shot go wide with second remaining to force overtime. In overtime, Courtany Hagen (New Paltz, NY/New Paltz) came up with a key save to preserve the tie as the teams finished knotted at two. Hagen finished with three save in the game.
The Setters are back in action on Saturday, September 22 when they will travel to Manchester, NH for a Northeast-10 Conference game against Saint Anselm at 1 pm.
