WINTER PARK, Fla.- The Setters kicked off their 2012 season with a split on day one of the Rollins College Tournament. Pace dropped their opening match to California, Pa. 3-0 (25-18, 25-14, 25-14), while taking their first win of the season 3-0 (25-8, 25-18, 25-13) over Kentucky State. Pace evens their record at 1-1 on the season.
In the opening match against California, Pa., senior Nora Rugova (Mt. Kisco, NY/Fox Lane) (Mt. Kisco, NY/Fox Lane) led the Setters with seven kills along with four digs. Senior Tamilee Webb (Hartsdale, NY/Ardsley) (Hartsdale, NY/Ardsley) netted six kills and four digs, while Brooke Speyerer (Winter Haven, FL/Lake Region) (Winter Haven, FL/Lake Region) tallied 19 assists. Senior Elyse Rowland (Antioch, CA/Deer Valley) (Antioch, CA/Deer Valley) tallied eight digs, while freshman Alyssa Marchino (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) (Lindenhurst, NY/Lindenhurst) totaled 10 digs.
The Setters cruised in the second match victory over Kentucky State as Rugova finished with six kills and five digs. Freshman Megan Kurz (San Diego, CA/Patrick Henry) record six kills along with five digs. Speyerer finished with 17 assists, while Marchino posted another solid match with 10 digs.
The Setters wrap up the Rollins Tournament on Saturday, September 1 when they will take on host Rollins at 12:40 pm and East Regional opponent Chestnut Hill at 4:20 pm
