Setters Comes Up Short to Franklin Pierce in Season Finale

RINDGE, N.H.- The Setters fell in their season final 10-9 against the Ravens of Franklin Pierce University in Northeast-10 Conference action. Pace ends their season at 5-10 overall and 3-7 in the NE-10, while the Ravens finished the season at 7-6 and 5-5 in conference play.

The Ravens jumped out to an early 1-0 lead but the Setters answered with a pair of goals. Kevin Kadlick (Boston, MA/Catholic Memorial) (Boston, MA/Catholic Memorial) and William Scioscia (Somerset, NJ/Immaculata) (Somerset, NJ/Immaculata) each netted a goal to put Pace up 2-1. The teams traded goals the rest of the first quarter as Kadlick dropped in his second goal of the day as the teams were tied at three after one quarter.

The Ravens netted a pair of goals early in the second quarter for a 5-3 lead but the Setters answered to tie the game. Matt Mirabito (Binghamton, NY/Broome CC) (Binghamton, NY/Broome CC) and Kadlick both scored to pull Pace back even at five midway through the second quarter. The Ravens rallied with three unanswered goals to take an 8-5 lead. Matt Gebhardt (West Islip, NY/West Islip) (West Islip, NY/West Islip) scored with 14 second on the clock off a John Kolesar (Warwick, NY/Warwick) (Warwick, NY/Warwick) assist as the Setters trailed 8-6 at halftime.

The Setters came out strong on the third quarter as Scioscia tallied his second goal of the day, while Kadlick tied the game at eight with his four score of the game. The Ravens netted a late goal and led 9-8 heading into the final quarter. Mirabito tied the game in the first minute of the final quarter with a man-up goal to knot the game at nine. Franklin Pierce scored the go-ahead goal with 4:27 left in the game on a man-up opportunity as Pace came up short in their final game of the season.

For Pace, Kadlick finished with four goals, while Mirabito and Scioscia both tallied two goals and one assist each. In net, Kevin Grady (Medford, NY/Bellport) played all 60 minutes as he recorded 16 saves in his final collegiate game.
