Lacrosse Comes Up Shorts to #11 Saint Michael's 7-5

COLCHESTER, Vt.- Matt Mirabito (Binghamton, NY/Broome CC) (Binghamton, NY/Broome CC) netted a pair of goals as the Setters came up short to #11 Saint Michael's College in Northeast-10 Conference action. The Setters fall to 4-6 overall and 3-4 in the NE-10, while the Purple Knights improve to 8-4 and 4-4 in conference play.

Tom Murphy (Yonkers, NY/Hastings) (Yonkers, NY/Hastings) got the Setters off to an early lead as he scored off a Mirabito assist midway through the opening quarter. The Purple Knights rallied with a pair of late goals as they took a 2-1 after one quarter of action. Pace netted the lone goal of the second quarter as John Kolesar (Warwick, NY/Warwick) (Warwick, NY/Warwick) tied the game at two as he scored with 42 seconds to play as the teams headed to the half tied at two.

Early in the third quarter, Mirabito put the Setters back in the lead but Saint Michael's answered with two goals as they took back the lead at 4-3. The Setters again pulled even as William Scioscia (Somerset, NJ/Immaculata) (Somerset, NJ/Immaculata) to tie the game at four with 2:59 to play in the third quarter. The Purple Knights scored 45 seconds later to take a 5-4 lead into the final quarter.

The Setters answered midway through the fourth quarter as Mirabito scored at the 6:08 mark to again tie the game at five. The Purple Knights scored a pair of late goals and kept the Setters off the board the rest of the way to hold on for the win.

In net, Kevin Grady (Medford, NY/Bellport) recorded 15 saves in 60 minutes of action in goal for the Setters.

Pace returns to action on Monday, April 16 when the Setters will host Notre Dame de Namur for a non-conference game at Pace Field at 4 pm.
