PLEASANTVILLE, NY-The Setters drop two non-divisional conference games to the Falcons of Bentley University. The Setters dip to 9-10 overall while the Falcons advance to 12-11 overall.
Bentley put a run on the board in the third inning on a RBI single before the inning was closed out with three runners on base. The action picked up in the seventh as Bentley score two RBI's on a homer to take the lead 3-0. Pace came alive as well on a double from Tyler Collins (Stamford, CT/Trinity Catholic) (Stamford, CT/Trinity Catholic) that brought in two runs. The Setters were unable to tie or take the lead in the next two innings which led the Falcons to a 3-2 win.
Bryant Johnson of the Falcons went 1-for-3, scored a run and tallied two RBI's. Jeff Croteau pitched a full game allowing nine hits, two runs, striking out one and advancing his record to 2-1.
Collins went 2-for-3 with two RBI's while Kyle Turnier (Waterford, CT/Waterford) (Waterford, CT/Waterford) made contact on 3-of-4 at-bats. Brian Sundberg (Westbury, NY/WT Clarke) (Westbury, NY/WT Clarke) pitched a complete game for Pace, allowed ten hits, three runs and struck out three. He is now 2-2 for the season.
Joe Lombardi (Briarcliff, NY/Briarcliff) (Briarcliff, NY/Briarcliff) grounded out in the second inning to bring James Pjura (Shelton, CT/Shelton) (Shelton, CT/Shelton) home for the first score of the second game. The score would remain unchanged until Bentley went on a run in the fifth inning scoring five runs. Chris Roemer (Ardsley, NY/Ardsley) (Ardsley, NY/Ardsley) answered with an RBI single to give the Setters another run. Ian Wukitsch (Morristown, NJ/Morristown) (Morristown, NJ/Morristown) had an RBI singled in the sixth but the Setters were unable to hit a streak as the game ended 6-3.
Will Brennan and Mike Muir both tallied two RBI's as Greg Baggett and Logan Gillis both contributed one. JP Ashline threw a complete game allowing nine hits, three runs, three walks and struck out five.
Collins went 3-for-4 and scored a run while Brandon Martineson (Warwick, NY/Warwick) (Warwick, NY/Warwick) went 2-for-2. Wukitsch and Roemer both recorded an RBI. Robert Perez (Bronx, NY/Trinity Pawling) tossed for 4.1 innings, gave up just five hits, three runs and struck out four.
The Setters travel to New Haven to take on the Chargers of the University of New Haven on Wednesday, March 28 in a division match up at 3:30 pm.
