Box Score New Haven, CT - The Pace University men's basketball team lost tonight to Southern Connecticut State University by a score of 63-53 in a Northeast-10 Conference showdown. The Setters fall to 10-13 overall, and 6-12 in conference play while the Owls improve to 12-10 overall, and 9-9 in the NE-10.
The Setters got off to a decent start trading baskets with the Owls to around the halfway mark of the first period. With 12 minutes to go Pace would lead by three points, 10-7. They would improve that lead to eight in the next four minutes, 19-11. With back and forth action continuing to the break, the Setters would go into the locker room up by five, 23-18.
The second half would start like the first. Back and forth action would find Southern Connecticut ahead by two points in the first five minutes at 27-25. However, with 13 minutes left in regulation Pace would gain a surge retaking the lead and going up on the Owls by seven points, 36-29. The Setters would improve that lead to a 13 point margin at 49-36 with seven minutes to go in regulation. With the game all but wrapped up the Southern Connecticut State Owls completely turned things around. They would go on an 11 point run to tie things up to about the four minute mark. In the remaining four minutes the Setters would only score four more points. The Owls would win by 10 points, 63-53.
Shinning for the Setters despite the loss was Keon Williams (Hackensack, NJ/Hackensack/Iona College) (Hackensack, NJ/Iona College) with 10 points, and 14 rebounds. Delroy Daley (Bronx, NY/St. Raymond) (Bronx, NY/St. Raymond) also posted 14 rebounds with seven points. Denzel Primus-Devonish (Riverdale, MD/St. John's) recorded eight points, and five rebounds.
The Setters return to action Saturday, February 12th when they matchup against Saint Rose in an NE-10 Conference matchup at 3:30 pm in Albany, NY.
