HOT SHOOTING PACES SETTERS TO 18TH VICTORY OF THE SEASON

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.- The Setters opened the game with a 14-4 lead as the Setters cruised to a 75-37 victory over the Greyhounds of Assumption College in Northeast-10 Conference action. The Setters, ranked fourth in the latest NCAA East Region poll, improve to 18-5 overall and 12-5 in conference play. The Greyhounds were ranked third in the East Region as they fall to 15-6 and 13-4 in conference play.

The Setters opened the game with some hot shooting as Lisa Welsome (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's) (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's) nailed three triples from long range, while Kristin Connolly (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's) (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's) added five points, including a trifecta to lead the Pace run.

Pace would hold a solid lead but the Setters would break the game open as a three-point play by Brittany Shields (Cold Spring, NY/Haldane) at the 7:28 mark kicked off a 16-3 run to close out the first half. Pace's seven point lead would quickly bulge to 20 points at 37-17 heading into halftime

The Setters continued to dominate in the second half as the Pace defense clamped down limiting the Greyhounds to 20.6% shooting from the field for the game. Pace would shoot 53.7% for the game, including a blistering 65.2% in the second half of play.

For Pace, Shields recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Welsome tallied 11 points and five rebounds. Maral Javadifar (Flushing, NY/Mary Louis Academy) came off the bench to finish with 12 points for the Setters, while Connolly netted nine points for the game.

The Setters return to action on Tuesday, February 8 when Pace will travel to New Haven, CT for a Northeast-10 Conference game against Southern Connecticut State University at 5:30 pm.
