Pleasantville, NY- The Pace University men's basketball team won this afternoon over the New Haven Chargers by a score of 83-71 in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup. The Setters improve to 11-15 overall, and 7-14 in conference play while the Chargers fall to 7-18 overall, and 5-16 in the NE-10.
Pace came out of the gate on fire going on an eight point run to start the game. With back and forth play continuing for much of the first half the Setters would find themselves on top by a slim margin of five points midway through the first, 22-17. Fortunately for Pace that was a lead they would not relinquish in the first period. The Setters would go into the break on top by nine points, 41-32.
However, the second half would begin in favor of the Chargers. New Haven would go on a 13 point run to start things off capturing the lead at 42-41. Back and forth play would persist with Pace standing firm with a one point lead with 10 minutes left to play in regulation, 54-53. With clutch three point shooting from David Eismeier (Burke, VA/Bishop O'Connell) (Burke, VA/Bishop O'Connell) Pace would drive the nail into the coffin going up by 10 points with only a minute remaining in the game. The Setters would win with a 12 point lead at 83-71.
Shinning for the Setters was David Eismeier (Burke, VA/Bishop O'Connell) with 20 points, and five total rebounds. Also stepping up was Adrian Mills (Woodbridge, VA/Paul VI) (Woodbridge, VA/Paul VI) with 16 points, four rebounds, and one assist. Delroy Daley (Bronx, NY/St. Raymond) excelled with a double-double scoring 18 points, and pulling down 11 rebounds.
The Setters return to action Wednesday, February 23rdin their last regular season game when they matchup against American International in an NE-10 Conference battle at 7:30 pm in Springfield, MA.
