PACE CRUISES TO 75-48 WIN OVER NEW HAVEN
PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.- Brittany Huggins (Windsor, CT/Windsor) (Windsor, CT/Windsor) shot 6-for-10 from long range, finishing with a game-high 21 points as the Setters cruised to a 75-48 win over the Chargers of the University of New Haven in Northeast-10 Conference action. The Setters improve to 20-7 on the season and 14-7 in the NE-10, while the Chargers fall to 2-23 and 1-20 in conference play.
The Setters came out firing from the opening tip as Huggins score eight points to lead Pace to a 16-4 lead over the first seven minutes of play. Pace continued to build a comfortable lead as Huggins would hit five triples, totaling 18 points, in the half as the Setters would take a 41-21 lead into break. The Setters finished the half shooting 61.5% from the field, while limiting the Chargers to 27.6% for the half.
Pace would add to their halftime advantage in the final period as they led by as much as 30 points with just under four minutes left in the game. The Setters continued their hot shooting as they shot 50% in the final 20 minutes and finished the game shooting 55.8% from the field. New Haven shot 30 % for the game as the Setters would cruise to the double-digit victory.
For Pace, Huggins shot 7-for-12 from the field, along with six trifectas, as she finished with a game-high 21 points, five rebounds and three assists. Brittany Shields (Cold Spring, NY/Haldane) tallied 12 points and six boards, while Kerri White (Flushing, NY/Archbishop Molloy/Manhattan College) netted 15 points off the bench.
The Setters return to action on Wednesday, February 23 when Pace will travel to American International College for a pivotal Northeast-10 Conference game at 5:30 pm.
