WELSOME JOINS 250-ASSIST CLUB WITH SEVEN ON THE NIGHT
PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.- Brittany Shields (Cold Spring, NY/Haldane) posted a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds as the Setters cruised to a 73-47 win over the Dolphins of Le Moyne College in Northeast-10 Conference action. The Setters improve to 19-7 overall and 13-7 in the NE-10, while the Dolphins fall to 7-17 and 4-16 in conference play.
The Setters jumped out to a quick start as they built an 11-point lead at 23-12 with 7:41 left in the first half. Le Moyne would answer as they used a 16-5 run to close out the half to tied the score at 28 at the break.
Pace would break the game open in the second half as they scored the first 12 points, while limiting the Dolphins 0-for-8 shooting and eight turnovers in the first 7:20 of the second half. Shields netted six points in the run as the Setters continued to extend the lead throughout the half. Le Moyne shot 27.3% for the half, while finishing 34% from the field for the game. Pace shot 59.3% in the second half as they would shoot 54% from the field for the game.
The Setters were led by Shields' double-double, while Allison Cleary (New Windsor, NY/Cornwall Central) (New Windsor, NY/Cornwall Central) finished with 12 points, five rebounds and five assists. Brittany Huggins (Windsor, CT/Windsor) (Windsor, CT/Windsor) netted 11 points, while Lisa Welsome (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's) finished with five points, three rebounds and three steals. Welsome's seven assists on the night gave her 250 for her career, making her the 21st player in school history to reach 250 career assists.
The Setters return to action on Saturday, February 19 when Pace will host the University of New Haven at 1:30 pm.
