PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. - Brittany Shields (Cold Spring, NY/Haldane) led the Setters to their fourth win as they remain undefeated for the season with a 71-53 win over the Chargers of New Haven. The Setters improve to 4-0 on the season and 3-0 record in the Northeast-10 Conference, while the Chargers fall to 0-5 overall and 0-3 in conference play.
Pace started the game off strong going up on the Chargers 16-6 within the first six minutes of the game. The Chargers gained momentum and were able to take their largest lead of the game with 5:56 to go in the half. The Chargers were able to maintain the lead heading into halftime up 35-29.
The Setters opened second half on an 11-0 run to jump in the lead 40-35 as Shields has four points, while Kerri White (Flushing, NY/Archbishop Molloy) (Flushing, NY/Archbishop Molloy) capped off the run with a triple. Pace would hold the lead the rest of the way as back-to-back three-pointers by Margo Hackett (Pawling, NY/Pawling) (Pawling, NY/Pawling) helped the Setters pull ahead to their largest lead at 19 points at 70-51, with 1:43 to go in the game.
Elizabeth Curso led the Chargers with 12 points, while Ayana Duncanson totaled 10 points. Duncanson and Rykema Stone had nine rebounds each for New Haven.
Shields led the Setters in points with 18 and added six rebounds. Hackett finished with 15 points and two assists while White, Carol Johnson (New City, NY/Cardinal Spellman) (New City, NY/Cardinal Spellman) and Kera Bretney (Bridgetown, Barbados/Springer Memorial) (Bridgetown, Barbados/Springer Memorial) contributed eight points apiece. Maral Javadifar (Flushing, NY/The Mary Louis Academy) led the boards for the Setters with nine total rebounds.
The Setters return to play on November 30 as they will travel to Southern Connecticut for an NE-10 game at 5:30 pm.
