PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.- Senior Shea Hansen (Mesa, AZ/Red Mountain) (Mesa, AZ/Red Mountain) tallied 27 digs, 3 kills and 41 assists in the fourth straight win for the Setters against conference match-up University of Massachusetts Lowell. After four sets (25-15, 20-25, 26-24, 25-13) Pace improves to 15-6 overall and 6-2 in the Northeast-10 Conference. The River Hawks drop to 9-7 overall on the season and 5-4 for conference play.
The Setters started off strong in the first set taking an early 6-1 lead and finishing the set off 25-15. Pace culminated 18 kills in the first set while UMass Lowell finished with 9.
The River Hawks gained momentum in the second and took the win. The set was point for point until UMass Lowell took a 10 point streak and won the set 25-20.
Pace started the third out strong and after nine River Hawk errors, the Setters edged by 26-24 in the third set.
With momentum on their side, the Setters ran away with the final set that landed 13 kills and was errorless for a 25-13 finalized win over UMass Lowell.
Junior Elyse Rowland (Antioch, CA/Deer Valley) (Antioch, CA/Deer Valley) finished with 16 digs, six assists and one kill. Junior Nora Rugova (Mt. Kisco, NY/Fox Lane) (Mt Kisco, NY/Fox Lane) executed 17 kills and 16 digs and Tamilee Webb (Hartsdale, NY/Ardsley) (Hartsdale, NY/Ardsley) totaled ten kills. Freshman Melanie Pavels (Valley Stream, NY/Valley Stream South) (Valley Stream, NY/Valley Stream South) had 22 digs and 12 kills while Senior Ursula Vero (Bronx, NY/Cardinal Spellman) tallied 16 digs and added a kill.
Despite their loss, Freshman Hannah Rey had a career-best 18 kills and 28 digs on the day.
The Setters will return to play Tuesday October 18 to host American International at 7 pm.
