Box Score Rindge, NH- The Pace University men's basketball team won a Northeast-10 matchup over Franklin Pierce University. The Setters improve to 7-6 overall and 3-5 in the NE-10, while the Ravens fall to 4-9 overall and 2-6 in conference action this season.
Pace got off a mediocre start as they battled with the Ravens for much of the first half. At about the 10 minute mark of the first period the setters would lead by a slim margin of one point, 15-14. The following minutes were all Pace. The Setters would take a nice lead at 19-14 but would quickly relinquish to 21-21 with five minutes left till halftime. For the remaining few minutes the Setters would surrender the lead to Franklin Pierce by two scores at the end of the first period, 35-31.
The second half would resemble much of the first. Pace would continue to trade scores with Franklin Pierce till the 10 minute mark of the second period where Pace would find themselves up by one, 54-53. This was nearly the last lead the Setters would hold against the Ravens. Franklin Pierce would quickly retake the lead till about the one minute mark of the second half. With the Ravens leading 68-66, Pace's Denzel Primus-Devonish (Riverdale, MD/St. John's College) (Riverdale, MD/St. John's College) would hit the go ahead three pointer to recapture the lead for Pace at 69-68. The Setters would not surrender another basket to Franklin Pierce and win 71-68.
Shinning for the Setters was David Eismeier (Burke, VA/Bishop O'Connell) (Burke, VA/Bishop O'Connell) with 23 points, 15 of which came from the three point arc. He also recorded nine rebounds. Also shinning for Pace was Adrian Mills (Woodbridge, VA/Paul VI) with 18 points, six assists and four rebounds.
Pace returns to action Saturday, January 8th against NE-10 Conference foe Stonehill College at 3:30 pm in Pleasantville, NY.
