PACE FALLS TO ASSUMPTION

Worcester, MA- The Pace men's basketball team lost a conference matchup to the Greyhounds of Assumption College by a score of 83-72. With the loss, the Setters fall to 6-6 overall, and 2-5 in the Northeast-10, while the Greyhounds improve to 6-7 overall and 3-4 in conference play.

Pace got off to a respectable start scoring 17 points in the first 10 minutes of action. The Setters were down by three, 20-17 at that point in the matchup. The Greyhounds however would step their play up and go on a 6-0 run in the next few minutes to improve their lead to 26-17. Both teams would continue to battle back and forth with no clear definitive superior for much of the first half. Unfortunately for the Setters, with about seven minutes to play in the first period Assumption would begin to pull away. With five minutes and nine seconds to play the Greyhounds would go up as much as 11 points, 39-28. Pace could not do much to stop the Greyhounds attack and would finish the first period down by 16 points, 50-34.

The second half would not prove well for Pace. The Setters would however give Assumption a scare. With a couple of point flurries for Pace they would find themselves only down by three at the half way point in the second period, 60-57. Each team would trade baskets till about the six minute mark where Assumption would again take a commanding lead. With three minutes left in regulation the Greyhounds would lead as much as nine points again, 76-67. Assumption would finish the game up by eleven, 83-72.

Shinning for the Setters was sophomore forward Keon Williams (Hackensack, NJ/Hackensack/Iona College) (Hackensack, NJ/Iona College) with 19 points and 10 total rebounds. Also shining was Adrian Mills (Woodbridge, VA/Paul VI) (Woodbridge, VA/Paul VI) scoring 16 points, six rebounds, and three assists. Denzel Primus-Devonish (Riverdale, MD/St. John's College) would also score 16 points, record five assists, and two rebounds despite the loss.

The Setters return to action Wednesday, January 5th when they matchup against Conference opponent Franklin Pierce in Rindge, NH at 7:30 pm.
