Pleasantville, NY- The Pace University men's basketball team won today over Saint Michael's College by a score of 75-57 in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup. The Setters improved to 8-8 overall, and 4-7 in conference play while the Purple Knights fell to 5-9 overall, and 3-7 in the NE-10.
The Setters got off to a good start beginning the game's first few minutes ahead by eight, 10-2. Saint Michael's would then go on a 13 point run to take the lead away at 16-10. Pace would not go away however, just after the halfway point in the first period the Setters would tie things up at 18 apiece. Pace would continue to carry that momentum. After a Saint Michael's score, the Setters would go on a nine point run taking the lead back at 25-20. Both teams would trade baskets till the end of the period with Pace leading by a five point margin, 35-30.
The start of the second half picked up where the first left off. Pace tacked on four more points before the Purple Knights would even draw blood. Things would get more precipitous for the Setters. By the halfway point of the second period Pace would lead by as much as 11 points, 55-44. From that point on Saint Michael's would try to play catch up launching plenty of three point attempts, however it was not enough to overcome Pace's relentless attack. The Setters would end the game with an 18 point lead, 75-57.
Shinning for the Setters was freshman guard Denzel Primus-Devonish (Riverdale, MD/St. John's College) (Riverdale, MD/St. John's College) with 21 points, seven assists, and three rebounds. Keon Williams (Hackensack, NJ/Hackensack/Iona College) (Hackensack, NJ/Iona College) had 13 points, and an impressive 19 rebounds. Also shinning for Pace was David Eismeier (Burke, VA/Bishop O'Connell) with 13 points, going 3-5 from three point land.
The Setters return to action Wednesday, January 19 when they matchup against Southern New Hampshire in an NE-10 Conference showdown at 7:30 pm in Pleasantville, NY.
