SETTERS' WIN STREAK REACHES NINE WITH WIN OVER SOUTERN CONNECTICUT
HUGGINS NETS 20 AS PACE DEFEATS OWLS 73-66

NEW YORK, N.Y.- Brittany Huggins (Windsor, CT/Windsor) (Windsor, CT/Windsor) finished with 20 points to lead Pace to it ninth win in a row as the Setters defeated Southern Connecticut 73-66. The Setters, ranked fifth in the most recent NCAA East Region poll, improve to 18-5 overall and 15-3 in the Northeast-10. The Owls fall to 11-12 overall and 8-10 in conference play.

Both teams held small leads in a back and forth first half. Southern Connecticut would take a four point lead at 23-19 with 2:14 left in the half. The Setters would close out the half on a 7-2 as Lisa Welsome (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's) (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's) converted a three-point play, Carol Johnson (New City, NY/Cardinal Spellman) hit a pair of free throws and Allison Cleary (New Windsor, NY/Cornwall Central) (New Windsor, NY/Cornwall Central) hit a lay-up at the buzzer to put the Setters up 26-25 at the break.

The Setters continued to build on their halftime lead with a 15-5 run to push their advantage to 41-30 with 14:35 remaining in the game. The Owls would chip away at the Setter lead, cutting the score to 59-53 at the 2:46 mark. The Setters would head to the line over the final three minutes, hitting 16-of-20 at the line, led by Johnson's 6-for-6 and Taylor Losey (Bristol, CT/Bristol Eastern) (Bristol, CT/Bristol Eastern) converting 4-for-4 down the stretch to secure the Setters' ninth win in a row.

For Pace, Huggins finished with 20 points and four rebounds, while Losey tallied 13 points and three boards. Johnson netted 10 points, while Welsome totaled eight points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Pace returns to action on Saturday, February 13 when the Setters will host the College of Saint Rose for a Northeast-10 Conference game at 1:30 pm. Saturday's game will also be the WBCA's Pink Zone fundraiser for breast cancer research.
