Pleasantville, NY- The Pace men's basketball team fell in an NE-10 Conference matchup to the Yellow Jackets of American International College by a score of 84-81. With the loss, the Setters fall to 6-4 overall, and 2-4 in the Northeast-10, while the Yellow Jackets improve to 7-2 overall and 5-1 in the NE-10.
In the opening half the Setters came out firing, knocking down much of what they shot. Pace would control the tempo of the game and the score for the majority of the first period. For 17 minutes the Setters held a leading margin. It wasn't until the three minute mark in the first half that the Yellow Jackets would finally see their first lead of the game at 30-29. They would eventually finish the period up by one 32-31.
Unfortunately for the Setters, their best basketball would have been played in the first half. The Yellow Jackets went into half time up by one and never let Pace regain the lead in the second period. Despite a late comeback push with solid overall play from freshman point guard Denzel Primus-Devonish (Riverdale, MD/St. John's College) (Riverdale, MD/St. John's College) the Setters would fall short 84-81.
Shining for the Setters was Denzel Primus-Devonish (Riverdale, MD/St. John's College) totaling a team high 28 points, seven assists, and one rebound. Also playing with a purpose was Keon Williams (Hackensack, NJ/Iona College) with 17 points, two blocks, and eleven rebounds.
The Setters return to action Tuesday, December 14th when they matchup for the Pace NYC game against Nyack College in a non-conference showdown at 7:00 pm in New York, NY.
