SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- Jason Washington (Bronx, N.Y./Mamaroneck/Iona College) (Bronx, NY/Mamaroneck/Iona College) rushed 36 times for a career-high and school record 242 yards as the Setters fell to American International College 69-31 in Northeast-10 Conference action. Pace falls to 0-8 and 0-6 in the NE-10, while the Yellow Jackets improve to 5-4 and 5-2 in conference play.
The Setters struggled offensively in the first half, totaling 32 yards and trailed 55-3 at the break. Yellow Jackets quarterback Rob Parent three for four touchdowns in the opening half lead American International.
Washington came out strong in the second half as he rushed for 210 yards over the final 30 minutes, including four rushing touchdowns, leading the Setters to 28 second half points. Washington also finished with 245 kickoff yards, finishing with 487 all-purpose yards for the game.
On defense, David Lopez (Ozone Park, N.Y./Christ the King) (Ozone Park, NY/Christ the King) led the Setters with eight tackles, while Matthew Grosser (Pompton Lakes, N.J./Pompton Lakes) (Pompton Lakes, NJ/Pompton Lakes) totaled seven tackles, including one for a loss. Jonfrey Sanchez (Bogota, N.J./Bogota) (Bogota, NJ/Bogota) and Chris Perugini (Eastchester, NY/Eastchester) each recorded six tackles, while Sanchez had one for a loss.
The Setters return to action on Saturday, November 13 when Pace will host Merrimack College in the season finale and senior day at 1 pm at Pace Field.
