Pleasantville, NY- The Pace men's basketball team won an NE-10 Conference matchup against the Golden Knights of Saint Rose by a score of 84-74. With the win, the Setters improve to 5-2 overall, and 1-2 in the Northeast-10, while the Golden Knights fall to 5-1 overall and 2-1 in the NE-10.
Through the first seven minutes of play one would have thought both teams would be trading points till the end of regulation. However, by the 13 minute mark in the first half the Setters began to pull away with an 8-0 run making the score 17-9. By the five minute mark Pace would improve its lead to nine. The rest of the first period would favor the Setters however the Golden Knights narrowed the lead to six.
The second half would be much closer. Midway through the second Saint Rose would find themselves down by only one point at 53-52. After two more minutes Saint Rose would take its first lead of the game 56-55. The two teams would trade field goals to the six minute mark. From that point on the Golden Knights' luck would run out. Despite many fouls on both sides the Setters would prevail with a ten point lead 84-74.
Shining for the Setters was freshman point guard Denzel Primus-Devonish (Riverdale, MD/St. John's College) (Riverdale, MD/St. John's College) totaling 15 points, eight assists, and one rebound. Also playing with a purpose was Adrian Mills (Woodbridge, VA/Paul VI) (Woodbridge, VA/Paul VI) with 23 points, five assist, and four rebounds. David Eismeier (Burke, VA/Bishop O'Connell) (Burke, VA/Bishop O'Connell) recorded 12 points, one assist, and one rebound.
The Setters return to action Wednesday, December 1st when they matchup against Le Moyne College in a Northeast-10 Conference showdown at 7:30 pm in Syracuse, NY.
