SETTERS MOVE TO 5-0 WITH 73-59 WIN OVER SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.- The Setters used a strong first half to overpower the Owls as Pace would cruise to a 73-59 win over Southern Connecticut State University in Northeast-10 Conference action. The Setters remain unbeaten on the season at 5-0 and 2-0 in conference play, while the Owls fall to 3-1 and 1-1 in the NE-10.

The Setters broke out to a 19-9 lead midway through the opening half as good shooting led the way for Pace. The Owls would battle back, cutting the score to 26-22 with just over eight minutes left in the half. Pace would pull ahead, using a 14-4 to push their lead to 40-26 with 4:22 left in the half. Brittany Huggins (Windsor, CT/Windsor) (Windsor, CT/Windsor) posted four points in the run, while Kerri White (Flushing, NY/Archbishop Molloy) (Flushing, NY/Archbishop Molloy/Manhattan College) connected on a pair of triples to help Pace take control of the game. The Setters would head into halftime with a 13-point advantage at 45-32.

Pace would continue their solid play into the second half, pulling ahead by as much as 19 points at 54-34. Southern Connecticut would close the gap, pulling to within nine points of the Setters at 59-50 with eight and a half minutes left in the game. Pace would use a 6-0 burst with a three-point play by Huggins and a pair of free throws by White to extend the lead back to 15. Pace would lead by double digits the rest of the way to stay unbeaten on the season.

Pace would led by Huggins with 19 points (16 in first half) and eight rebounds, while White netted 11 points. Lisa Welsome (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's) (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's) came off the bench to 15 points, while Brittany Shields (Cold Spring, NY/Haldane) tallied 11 points and five rebounds.  

The Setters return to action on Sunday, November 28 as Pace will host the College of Saint Rose at 1:30 pm at the Goldstein Fitness Center on Pace's Pleasantville campus.
