Game 1- SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT 81, BRIDGEPORT 50
PLEASANTVILLE, NY-Southern Connecticut State opened their season at 2-0 with an 81-50 over of Queens College on Day Two of the Pace Tip-Off Classic. The Purple Knights fall to 0-2 overall.
For Bridgeport, Edna Marant led the Purple Knights with 10 points and three rebounds. Elinor Avny chipped in with nine points and three assists.
For Southern Connecticut, Sylvonya Moore led the Owls with 18 points, five boards and five assists. Shelley Pierson recorded 14 points and eight rebounds, while Moni Smith-Ocran tallied a double-double with 12 points and 13 boards.
GAME 2- PACE 79, QUEENS 66
PLEASANTVILLE, NY- The Setters of Pace University remained perfect on the season with a 79-66 win over Queens College on Day Two. The Knights fall to 0-2 on the season.
For Pace, Brittany Huggins (Windsor, CT/Windsor) (Windsor, CT/Windsor) led the Setters with 21 points and eight rebounds, while Lisa Welsome (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's) (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's) finished with 12 points and eight rebounds. Carol Johnson (New City, NY/Cardinal Spellman) totaled seven points, six rebounds and four assists.
For Queens, Amanda Bartlett led the Knights with 37 points, seven rebounds three assists and three steals. Nicole Caggiano chipped in with 12 points, while Cadie Chu added 12 points and four boards. Caitlin Hopkins grabbed a team-high eight boards.
The Setters return to action on Thursday, November 18 when Pace travels to Sparkill, NY to take on the Spartans of Saint Thomas Aquinas at 6 pm.
