WORCESTER, Mass.– The Setters dropped a Northeast-10
Conference game to the Greyhounds of Assumption College 20-0. Pace
falls to 0-5 overall and 0-3 in conference play, while the
Greyhounds improve to 5-1 and 2-1 in the NE-10.
The teams were locked in a defensive battle for most of the
first half as the score remained tied at zero until late in the
second quarter. Assumption would get a 35-yard field goal from Matt
Harris, while quarterback Andrew Kupec tossed a 20-yard touchdown
to Paul Perez with seven seconds left as the Greyhounds would take
a 10-0 lead into the break.
The Greyhounds would add a second half field goal along with a
second touchdown pass from Kupec as Assumption's defense
limited the Setters to 162 total yards for the game.
For Pace, Jonfrey Sanchez (Bogota, N.J./Bogota) (Bogota, NJ/Bogota)
led the Setter defense with 14 tackles, while David Lopez (Ozone Park, N.Y./Christ the King)
(Ozone Park, NY/Christ the King) chipped in with 11.
Obi Onejeme (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East)
totaled 10 tackles, while Jesus Cardona (Brooklyn,
NY/Xaverian) recorded seven tackles and forced and
recovered a fumble.
The Setters return to action on Saturday, October 16 when Pace
will host the Skyhawks of Stonehill College in an NE-10 clash on
Homecoming at 1 pm
