Box Score SETTERS EDGE OUT YELLOW
JACKETS IN OVERTIME WIN
SPRINGFIELD, MA- Pace sophomore Adrian Mills (Woodbridge, VA/Paul VI)
(Woodbridge, VA/Paul VI) drained a team-high 20 points
leading the Setters to a tight 76-73 overtime victory over the
American International College Yellow Jackets. The victory is
Pace's third straight win which improves their overall record
to 4-3, and makes their record 4-2 in conference play. The loss for
the Yellow Jackets makes them fall to 4-4 overall and 4-3 in the
Northeast-10 Conference.
Both teams fought their way to a 25-22 score at the end of the
opening half with Pace holding the lead.
The Setters would distance themselves from the Yellow Jackets at
the beginning of the second half by going on an 8-0 run to
make the lead eleven.
The Yellow Jackets would eventually make a come back taking a
54-53 lead with three minutes remaining in the second half. Pace
answered back with an 8-0 run to make the score 61-54, but American
International would rally back one final time to tie the game 64
and send it into overtime.
In overtime, the Setters would take a lead and never let it go,
even though the lead was a close one. Two free throws from
Ryan Woods (Staten Island, NY/St. Peters Boys) (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's Boys)
would give Pace a three point advantage. The Yellow Jackets would
get one more shot, but a missed three pointer from American
International's Aikeem Vanderhorst as time expired gave Pace the
win.
Along with Mills, the Setters saw a solid performance out of
Woods scoring 17 points along with five rebounds. Senior
Laurence McGhee (Linden, NJ/Linden) was another offensive threat for
Pace scoring 13 points, collecting six rebounds and dishing out a
team-high five assists. Sophomore Delroy Daley (Bronx, NY/St. Raymond H.S.) (Bronx,
NY/St. Raymond HS) totaled a team-high eleven rebounds on
the evening.
The Setters will return to action on Monday, December 14 when
the team comes home to Pleasantville, NY for a non-conference
battle against Concordia College. The game is set for a 7:00pm
tip-off.
