SETTERS STING YELLOW JACKETS FOR FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON 20-9
WASHINGTON RUSHES FOR 110 AND TWO TD'S IN VICTORY

PLEASANTVILLE, NY.- Jason Washington (Bronx, NY/Mamaroneck HS/Iona College) (Bronx, NY/Mamaroneck/Iona College) powered the Setter rushing attack, finishing with 110 yards on the ground along with a pair of touchdowns in Pace's 20-9 victory over the Yellow Jackets of American International College. The Setters improve to 1-8 overall and 1-6 in the Northeast-10 Conference, while the Yellow Jackets fall to 5-4 and 3-4 in conference play.

The Setters took their opening drive down to the American International six-yard before ending in an interception. Three plays later, AIC quarterback Shane Parent would throw an interception that Greg Brain (Westtown, NY/Minisink Valley) (Westtown, NY/Minisink Valley) 25-yards for a Pace touchdown and a 7-0 lead.  

Pace would add to their lead on the first play of the second quarter as Washington scored from two yard out to extend the Setter lead to 13-0 as the extra point would be blocked. The teams would trade possessions the rest of the quarter and Pace would take a 13-0 lead into the break.

American International would put their first points on the board late in the third quarter as the Yellow Jackets used a 19-play, 85-yard drive that ended with a 26-yard field goal by Dan Bassani.

The Yellow Jackets would chip away at the Setter lead as AIC's Allen Bush would block a Setter punt and return it 14 yards for a touchdown. American International would fail on the extra point attempt but cut the Pace lead to 13-9 with 13:48 left in the game.

The Setters would not be denied a victory on this day as Pace would ice the game late in the fourth quarter as Washington led the Setters down the field, capped off by his second touchdown run of the day from 13-yard out for a 20-9 Setter lead and eventual first victory of the season for the Setters.

For Pace, Washington led the Setters on the ground with 110 rushing yards and two touchdowns, along with four catches for 23 yards. Joe Romanick (Slidell, LA/Northshore) (Slidell, LA/Slidell) finishing 19-of-30 passing for 160 yards and one interception. Eric Ortega (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's) (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's) led the Setters' receivers with six receptions for 51 yards, while Andrew Kulak (Wolcott, CT/Wolcott) (Wolcott, CT/Wolcott) finished with four catches for 43 yards.

Defensively, Pace was led by Michael LaMonica (Beachwood, NJ/Toms River South) (Beachwood, NJ/Toms River South) and Jonfrey Sanchez (Bogota, NJ/Bogota) who each totaled 10 tackles each on the day. LaMonica also forced a fumble in the game. Andrew Lipski (Miller Place, NY/Miller Place/Iona College) (Miller Place, NY/Miller Place/Iona College) recorded nine tackles, while Marvin Taylor (Newtown, CT/UConn) finished with three tackles and a key fourth quarter interception.

The Setters return to action next Saturday, November 7 when Pace will travel to North Andover, MA for a Northeast-10 Conference game against the Warriors of Merrimack College at 1 pm.
