RYAN WILLIAMS SETS PACE RECORD FOR THREE-POINTERS
PLEASANTVILLE, NY- The Pace University men's
basketball team defeated Northeast-10 Conference foe Southern New
Hampshire University, 85-65, this afternoon at the Goldstein
Health, Fitness and Recreation Center on the Pleasantville campus
of Pace University. The Setters have won five straight games and
improve to 17-10 overall and 13-6 in the NE-10, while the Penmen
fall to 5-19 overall and 5-15 in conference play.
Ryan Williams' (Centreville, VA/Paul VI) (Centreville, VA /Paul VI)
three-pointer with 5:00 minutes remaining in the first half set a
new Pace record for three-point field goals made in a
single-season. The previous record was held by Jay Carlington who
converted 94 three-pointers during the 2001-02 season. Williams has
now hit 96 three-pointers on the season.
Pace took control of the game in the first half with the help of
an 11-2 run. The Setters would build their lead by as many as 14
points on two different occasions, taking a 47-33 advantage into
the break. Pace benefited from a hot shooting hand going 18-for-35
(51.4%) from the field, including 4-for-8 (50.0%) from beyond the
arc. Williams and Maurice Douglas (Waldorf, MD/South Maryland Christian)

lead the scoring surge for the Setters in the half with 10 and nine
points respectively. The Penmen shot 43.8% (14-for-32) from the
field, converting on just 1-for-9 (11.1%) from downtown. Sam Carey
led Southern New Hampshire with 13 points in the half.
The Penmen were unable to recover from their first half deficit
as the Setters maintained their double digit lead throughout the
second half. Pace took their highest lead of the game, 77-48, on a
lay-up by Callum Jones (Manchester, UK/St. Thomas Moore Prep) (Manchester, UK/St.
Thomas Moore Prep) with 5:49 remaining in the ballgame.
Williams led the Setters with a team-high 15 points on 6-for-15
shooting from the field, connecting on 3-for-8 from three.
Carlos Howard (Fort Washington, MD/Gonzaga College High) (Fort Washington, MD/Gonzaga
College High) contributed with 13 points, while
Oneil Morgan (Kingston, Jamaica/Excelsior) (Kingston,
Jamaica/Excelsior) and Callum Jones (Manchester, UK/St. Thomas Moore Prep) each added 10 points.
Desmond Quincy-Jones (Rye, NY/Rye) (Rye,
NY/Rye), Gibraltar White (Gautier, MS/Gautier)
(Gautier, MS/Gautier), and Douglas all
chipped in with nine points. Quincy-Jones also recorded a game-high
13 rebounds.
For Southern New Hampshire, Carey scored a game-high 18 points
on 8-for-15 shooting to go along with eight rebounds. Paul Chergey
also recorded eight rebounds, while contributing with 13 points.
K.J. Creamer and Chris Brickley each finished the night with
10 points. The Penmen held the rebounding edge over Pace 42-40.
The Setters return to action on Wednesday, February
14th, as they host the Owls of Southern Connecticut
State University in Northeast-10 Conference men's basketball
action. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
