NEW HAVEN, CONN. - Sophomore Shamika Jackson (Manchester, Conn.)
scored 14 points and 22nd-ranked Southern Connecticut held Pace
University to 14 second-half points in a 57-43 Northeast-10
Conference women's basketball win Saturday afternoon at Moore
Fieldhouse.
The win was the sixth straight for the Owls, who have won 18 of
their last 19 games, to raise their overall record to 21-3 and
their NE-10 mark to 16-3.
Southern, which led 34-29 at intermission. Saw that lead shrink to
three points, 38-35, on a three-point goal by Stephanie Klingele (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa)
(Staten Island, N.Y.) with 15:45 to play. The Owls then went on a
13-0 to take a 51-35 edge on a three-point basket by Jackson with
7:46 remaining.
Sophomore Kate Lynch (Rumford, R.I.) and sophomore Rochelle
Johnson (Norwalk, Conn.) each added 12 points for the Owls, who
lead NCAA Division II in scoring defense.
Senior Maria Brown (Frederick, MD/Frederick/UMBC) (Frederick, Md.) scored 11 points and junior
Ashley Wallace (Oswego, NY/Oswego) (Oswego, N.Y.) added 10 points for Pace, which is
19-6 overall and 14-6 in the NE-10.
