SEASON FINALE
WORCESTER, MA - The Pace University football team
lost to the Assumption College Greyhounds 19-0, in a Northeast-10
Conference match-up. The Setters finish the season with a 3-7
overall mark and 2-7 in Northeast- 10 play, while the Greyhounds
finish 4-6 overall; 4-5 in conference play.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Greyhounds scored on their
first possession of the second quarter on a one yard touchdown run
by Kevin L'Ecuyer. The touchdown would be the only points scored in
the first half. L'Ecuyer finished the day with 94 yards on 28
carries.
The Greyhounds scored again in the third quarter on a Marshall
Tharpe 28-yard touchdown pass to Jake Beers. Tharpe finished the
day 16-29 for 166 yards and one interception, while Beers finished
with 7 receptions for 109 yards. Kicker Mike Tobin missed the extra
point, making the game 13-0 going into the fourth quarter. Tobin
would make up for the missed extra point by adding two field goals
of 21 and 30 yards.
It was a tough day for the Setters offense as they were held to
56 total yards by the Greyhound defense. Freshman quarterback,
Daniel Moyer (Highstown, NJ/Notre Dame) (Highstown, NJ/Notre Dame), completed
11 of 22 passes for 87 yards with one interception on the day.
Defensively, the Setters were led by Joe Streany
(Croton, NY/Croton-Harmon) who recorded 13 total tackles,
five solo, and a sack. Bobby Guy (Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) (Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair
Lawn) tallied 10 total tackles, including two for losses
of three yards. Nick Liguori (Toms River, NJ/Toms River South) (Toms River, NJ/Toms River
South) added seven tackles, two for losses of 13 yards to
go along with a sack, a forced fumble and an interception.
Ernst Turnier (Stratford, CT/Bunnell) (Stratford, CT/Bunnell) also added a
forced fumble and a sack.
