No. 6 Southern Indiana Defeats Pace University, 101-72,

At The 2006 Disney's Division II Men's Tip-Off Classic

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla (Nov. 11) - Southern Indiana (Evansville, IN) defeated Pace University, 101-72, at the 2006 Disney's Division II Men's Tip Off Classic basketball tournament on Saturday evening at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex near Orlando, Fla.  

Melvin Hall and Mike Kalicak each scored 17 points to lead six Southern Indiana players in double figures.  Kalicak shot 7-of-10 from the floor of the bench to record a career high in points.  Rashard Sullivan recorded 11 of his 15 points shooting 7-of-8 from the floor.  Marty Wise recorded his second straight double-double this season and fourth of his career with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

The Screaming Eagles (2-0) shot 61.1 percent from the floor in the first half and 59.2 percent for the game. They made 42 field goals, which was two short of the tournament record.  Down by 16 at the half, Pace (0-2) attempted to make a run by scoring six of the first eight points in the second half, but 12 points was as close as they would get as Southern Indiana scored nine unanswered points to extend their lead to 21.

Ryan Williams (Centreville, VA/Paul VI) recorded 19 of his game-high 23 points in the second half on 8-of-16 shooting from the floor.  Desmond Quincy-Jones was the only other Setters player to score in double figures with 12 points. 

With a win over Alaska (2-0) on Sunday at 4:30 p.m., Southern Indiana will clinch the Group Power title. Pace University will face NGCS at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday.
