Box Score OWLS TOP PACE, 59-10, FOR THIRD STRAIGHT WIN
October 1, 2005 – NEW HAVEN, Conn. –
Seven different players scored touchdowns as Southern Connecticut
State University topped Pace University, 59-10, in a Northeast-10
Conference football game Friday night at Jess Dow Field.
The win was the third straight for the Owls in which they scored at
least 55 points. Southern raised its record to 4-2, 3-2 in the
NE-10, while Pace slipped to 1-5, all in the NE-10.
Fullback Rory Palmer was the only Owl to score
more than once, crossing the goal on runs of seven and one yard as
Southern built a 31-3 lead at halftime.
The Owls rushed for six scores as tailback Shawn
Harris scored on a 15-yard run; quarterback Steve
Armstrong scored on a one-yard run; tailback
Brandon Toles scored on a five-yard run; and
tailback Marlon Thornton scored on a 29-yard run
in addition to Palmer's two scores.
Armstrong, a freshman, also tossed a 49-yard scoring pass to senior
split end Jim Lukowiak and cornerback
Russhon Anderson tallied on a 62-yard fumble
return as Southern amassed 475 total yards.
The Setters got a 33-yard field goal from Luigi
Casale, scored on a five-yard run by fullback
Scott Shuryn and quarterback Adam
Headley tossed a 19-yard touchdown pass to Joe
Toronto.
