WEEK
PLEASANTVILLE, NY – Mike Timmerman (Saddle Brook,
NJ) earned Pace University Fest honors after scoring twice
an racking up over 200 yards of total offense in the Setters'
upset of American International College, 20-7, on the Pleasantville
campus of Pace University. Pace improves to 2-5 overall and
in conference play while A.I.C. drops to 3-3 overall and in the
NE-10.
Both teams battled to a scoreless tie after the first quarter, but
a 12-play, 66-yard drive by the Setters resulted in a Timmerman
1-yard touchdown run to put the Setters on the board first.
Pace would hold that lead heading into the half.
On the Yellow Jackets' first play from scrimmage, A.I.C.
quarterback Shane Murphy (Bogota, NJ) threw a screen pass to wide
receiver Tyler Scaccia (Webster, NY). Scaccia then found
Derek Bird (Southington, CT) streaking down the sideline for a
70-yard touchdown reception to tie the game.
Timmerman would respond late in the 4th quarter with a
12-play, 69-yard draw that saw the senior quarterback complete all
six passes he attempted, included a 23-yard pass to sophomore Matt
Cooney (East Rockaway, NY) to put Pace on top 14-7 with 3:03
remaining in the game.
On the Yellow Jackets' next possession, Murphy led the A.I.C.
offense into Setters' territory, capped off by a 22-yard pass
to Scaccia, before an interception by Pace sophomore linebacker
Joe Streany (Croton, NY).
On the Setters' next possession, the Setters were faced with
a 3rd and inches with less than two minutes on the
clock. Needed less than a foot for a first down, senior
tailback Reuben Sullins (New Rochelle, NY) broke
through the A.I.C. defensive line and then broke two more tackles
before sealing the Pace victory, 20-7.
The Pace offensive game plan was impressive as the Setters'
controlled the ball for over 45 minutes of the game. Pace ran
84 plays to A.I.C.'s 43 and held the Yellow Jackets to just
24 yards on the ground while racking up 218.
Timmerman finished the day at 17-for-26 for 154 yards and one
touchdown, as well as 23 rushes for 60 yards and his sixth rushing
TD of the season. Sullins had 15 touches for 115 and one
touchdown. Defensively, game balls go to senior captain
Jarett Foster (Nanuet, NY) who led the team with
six tackles, including one sack, one quarterback hurry and one pass
breakup. Streany would finish the day with four tackles, as
well as the interception on the A.I.C.'s final drive and one
sack. Senior defensive back Dan Sullivan (Levittown,
NY) also had one interception in the game.

tackles while Carles Cataquet (Brockton, MA) finished with
12.
