FIRST HALF TIE SLIPS AWAY AS SETTERS FALL, 33-14, TO BENTLEY

LEASANTVILLE, NY – The Pace University football showed early signs of pulling an upset win over Bentley College, pulling into halftime tied at 14-14.  A strong second half by the Falcons gave them the Northeast-10 Conference win, 33-14, in Pleasantville, NY.  Pace drops to 1-4 overall and in NE-10 play while Bentley improves to 5-1 overall and 5-0 in the Northeast-10.
Bentley scored first when Derrick Marsan (Methuen, MA) picked off an Adam Headley (Shelton, CT) pass from five yards out and returned it for the Falcons' first touchdown of the day.  Pace would bounce back on the ensuing possession as Headley led the Setter attack on a six-play, 71-yard drive capped off by a Mitchell Backus (North Babylon, NY) touchdown run from 11-yards out.
With the Falcons driving on their next possession, Pace senior defensive back Jim Papcun (Hazlet, NJ) picked off a pass from Bentley's Kelley Rowe (Toledo, OH) on the 50-yard line.  Papcun would return the ball to the Bentley 3-yard line with just under nine minutes to play in the half.  After two failed dive attempts, Setter quarterback Mike Timmerman (Saddle Brook, NJ), who didn't start due for the first time this season, rushed for a 3-yard score on the QB keeper to give Pace a 14-7 lead with 6:25 remaining in the half.

Rowe would put together an impressive drive to close out the half, taking Bentley down the field on a 10-play, 80-yard drive.  Rowe would cap off the 4-minute drive with a 17-yard touchdown run to tie the game at 14-14 to head into the half.
The second half was all Bentley as a 20-yard touchdown pass from Rowe to Kristopher Lake (Dudley, MA) would put the Falcons up for good at 20-14.  Bentley quarterback John White (Kingston, MA) would score on an 8-yard run and Rowe would hook up with Jehan Murphy (Chelmsford, MA) on a 31-yard touchdown pass to close out the game, 33-14.

Offensively, Bentley's Rowe was 17-for-32 for 230 yards and two touchdown passes while also throwing two interceptions.  Rowe also led the Bentley rushing attack with 16 carries for 67 yards and one touchdown.  The Falcons' Lake had seven catches for 107 yards and one touchdown.   For Pace, Headley and Timmerman combined for a 14-for-35 day for 130 yards with neither quarterback breaking 80 yards in the air.  Backus had 20 carries for 53 yards, as well as three receptions for 38 yards on the day.

Defensively, Pace's Joe Streany (Croton, NY) led all players with 14 tackles.  Dan Sullivan (Levittown, NY) had an outstanding game, finishing with 10 tackles, including 1.5 for a loss, an interception and one sack.  Senior Jarett Foster (Nanuet, NY) finished with two sacks and one QB hurry, while freshman run-stopper Brian Schuster (Miller Place, NY) had two sacks and one fumble recovery.  Papcun also had nine tackles to go along with his interception that set up a Setter touchdown.
