Pace University Athletics announced the hiring of Molly Darfler-Sweeney as the new head coach of the Pace men’s and women’s cross country teams in May of 2023.

"I am extremely excited to welcome Molly to our coaching staff," said Associate Athletic Director Matt Anthony. "Her knowledge of the running community in our region, her familiarity with the university, and her ability to help young runners maximize their potential will greatly improve our team and its success."

Darfler-Sweeney joins the Setters as a coach while still pursuing her Master’s Degree in Publishing, which she is scheduled to complete in December of 2023.

“I am extremely excited to take on this role as head coach of Pace University cross country, especially as a former member of the team.” Said Darfler-Sweeney. “With an enthusiastic group of athletes, I believe that we can see great improvements. My goal is to see steady progress from the team and set some new records along the way. I am looking forward to laying a foundation for growth and success for many seasons to come.”

Before her time at Pace, Darfler-Sweeney was a four-year student-athlete at Division I Merrimack College, where she was a member of the cross country team as well as the indoor and outdoor track and field team.

While studying at Merrimack, she was also a member of the Honors Program and worked as a writer for the Broadsheet Journal. Prior to that, she was a writer and content creator for All The Best Moments.

Darfler-Sweeney, a native of Tannersville, N.Y., graduated Summa Cum Laude from Merrimack in May of 2022 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and English with a concentration in Management.
