Ed Stickles begins his third year as head coach of the Men’s/Women’s Cross Country program at Pace University in 2021.

In his first season with the Setters, he saw all athletes make marked improvements in their race performances and many established new lifetime personal bests.  In addition, more than half of the qualified athletes on the roster received recognition as D2 Athletics Directors Association Academic Achievement Award winners.  

Prior to coming to Pace, Stickles had a successful tenure as a high school cross country/track coach at Harrison, Bronxville, and Edgemont school districts. He coached many NYS sectional champions as well as State and National championship qualifiers and winners. Notable performances included coaching current professional athlete Mary Cain to qualify for the US Olympic Trials in the 800m while just a sophomore in high school. 

Stickles competed collegiately at SUNY Cortland as a member of the Red Dragons. He competed at a pair of NCAA DIII cross country championships and won the SUNY Conference Championship in the 5,000 Meter. 

A resident of Pleasantville, Stickles graduated from Cortland in 1989 with a degree in physical education.  He went on to earn a Masters from Teachers College, Columbia University in 1996, earning a degree in special education with a concentration in Applied Behavior Analysis.  In 2011, he earned a Masters of Education in administration and supervision from Bank Street College of Education.  He currently serves as the Assistant Director of Pupil Personnel Services for the Edgemont School District.
