Courtney Bertolone enters her third season as assistant coach for the both the Pace Women's Field Hockey and Women’s Lacrosse teams. In just their second season Bertolone helped the women's lacrosse team win it's first-ever Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship Title. The team was also named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) as a 2016 IWLCA Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad and had five student-athletes on 2016 Northeast-10 All-Conference Teams. The field hockey team went 6-12 in their inaugural season in 2015 including a big win over the then #5 LIU Post.
Bertolone was named as the assistant coach for both teams on August 11, 2014. Bertolone joined the staff of Head Coach Valerie Hickman who is led the first-ever women's field hockey team at Pace University during the fall 2015 season, as well as Head Coach Michael Spinner for the program’s inaugural women’s lacrosse spring 2015 season. The Setters had 18 players named to the NE-10 Commissioners Honor Roll. Members from the team earned Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division II All-Star First-Team, Northeast-10 Conference All-Rookie Team, Synapse Sports All-American Team and ECAC Rookie of the week honors.
During the 2015 season Bertolone helped the Field Hockey team finish 6-12 over and 3-9 in the conference. The Setters had three players earn ECAC Rookie of the week awards and one Player named to the ECAC All-Start 1st-Team. The Women's Lacrosse team finished 5-11 overall and 3-10 in the conference. Two players earned NE-10 All-Rookie team honors and one was also named to the NE-10 Second Team.
Bertolone comes to Pace after spending the previous two years in Ascot, England as a Physical Education teacher and Lacrosse Coach at St. Georges Boarding School. Prior to her time overseas, Bertolone spent one season as Dowling College as the Women’s Lacrosse Assistant Coach where she assisted in planning and overseeing team practices and workouts as well as participated in the team’s recruitment of student athletes.
Bertolone is a former three-time All-Suffolk County selection and two-time team Most Valuable Player award recipient in field hockey at Sachem East High School in Farmingville, New York. She highlighted her career at Sachem by earning All-New York State Field Hockey honors during her senior season of 2006. She continued her success at the college level as she was a rare freshman starter on Robert Morris University’s Women’s Division I Field Hockey team. Following a transfer to Stony Brook University, Bertolone focused on lacrosse and became a key leader of the program’s Division I Women’s Lacrosse team, leading and coordinating team activities on and off the field.
Bertolone graduated from Stony Brook in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology. She is currently pursuing her graduate degree in education.
