Water Safety Instructor Aide Job Description
Swimming Instruction:
- Aide in the instruction of pre-assigned class according to American Red Cross Guidelines and swim level.
- Assist instructor as they request in Level II and Level III classes
- Be attentive, motivating and create a positive and safe learning environment for all students.
- Each child should be challenged to his or her ability without compromising safety.
- Help ensure safety of each participant.
- Be to work fifteen minutes prior to class start to set pool lane lines, put in tot docks, assemble equipment and greet students.
Other Responsibilities:
- Enforce all pool rules and know the emergency action plan.
- Be attentive to pool deck at all times when students are present.
- Aides are expected to make every effort to attend all their classes. If this becomes impossible due to illness or emergency, find suitable coverage for your shift.
- Return pool to regular configuration at the end of shift. All equipment should be put away.
- Appropriate attire is required. One-piece swim suits only.
- Project a positive and friendly attitude to all participants and their parents, however, do not delay the start of class because of parental interruption.
- See that all children leave with their guardians.
- Attend all aquatic personnel meetings and training sessions.
Experience:
Previous swimming background as in competitive swimming or lessons
Experience with children
Salary: $6.50/hour
