PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Pace University field hockey senior Anne Kopec was selected as the Northeast 10 (NE10) Conference Defensive Player of the Week after helping the Setters turn in two dominant defensive performances to begin the 2026 season.
The Oceanport, N.J. native was a key piece of a Pace back line that did not allow a goal during victories over Mercy University and St. Thomas Aquinas College.
Pace opened the year by holding Mercy to just six shots in a 7-0 victory. The defense raised the standard again against STAC, keeping the Spartans from recording a single shot or penalty corner as the Setters rolled to a 9-0 win and tied the single-game program record for goals in a contest.
With Kopec helping organize the defensive unit, Pace finished its opening week with consecutive shutouts and a 16-0 scoring advantage through two games.
The honor marks Kopec's first NE10 Defensive Player of the Week selection of the 2026 season.
The Setters continue their early-season road stretch Wednesday, Sept. 9, when they visit Millersville University for a 6:00 p.m. match-up in Millersville, PA.
