Field Hockey Buries Dominican With Five-Goal First Half

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Pace University Field Hockey wasted little time taking control Saturday evening, scoring five times before halftime and keeping Dominican University of New York off the board in a 5-0 victory at Peter X. Finnerty Field. The Setters improved to 7-2 with their third consecutive win.

Grace Francis opened the scoring just 6:31 into the contest, finishing a feed from Olivia Martinez. Only 63 seconds later, Stella Musso doubled the advantage off an assist from Carlotta Oschmann as Pace quickly established control.

The Setters carried the momentum into the second quarter, where Feline Rook took over. Rook found the cage at 18:50 to make it 3-0 before setting up Mia Gaetani for Pace's fourth goal less than five minutes later.

Rook struck again at 25:59, finishing off a feed from Anne Kopec to send Pace into halftime with a commanding 5-0 advantage. The junior finished the night with two goals and an assist, placing three of her five shots on cage.

While the scoring stopped after halftime, the Setters' goalkeeping tandem made sure the shutout remained intact. Tara Dusée made two saves over the opening 37:41 before Caitlyn Zabko took over and turned aside all seven shots she faced.

Zabko came up especially big against a pair of Dominican penalty strokes, stopping attempts in both the third and fourth quarters to preserve the clean sheet.

Pace finished with 14 shots and eight on goal while generating 18 penalty corners. Francis, Musso and Gaetani joined Rook in the scoring column, while Martinez, Oschmann and Kopec each recorded an assist.

The shutout was Pace's third of the season.

The Setters return to action Wednesday, Sept. 30, when they host No.6  Bloomsburg University at 4p.m.
