PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Pace University Field Hockey controlled the action from start to finish Saturday afternoon, scoring three times in the opening quarter and holding Molloy University without a shot in a 6-0 victory at Peter X. Finnerty Field. The win moved the Setters to 4-2 on the season.
The Blue and Gold broke through in the 11th minute when Grace Francis converted a feed from Stella Musso. Less than two minutes later, Musso set up Josefina Villa Alonso to double the advantage before finding the cage herself off an assist from Feline Rook with 39 seconds remaining in the opening quarter.
After a scoreless second period, Musso struck again at 41:04 to push the lead to four. The freshman finished the afternoon with two goals and two assists, factoring into four of the Setters' six tallies.
Pace continued to add to the margin in the fourth. Ava Gile scored off Rook's second assist of the contest at 46:22 before Devin Arnold capped the afternoon with her first collegiate goal at 55:33, assisted by Tizia Goetz.
Francis added her sixth goal of the season, while Villa Alonso and Gile each found the cage once. Rook contributed two assists as the Setters received points from eight different players.
The Pace defense never allowed Molloy to generate a shot or penalty corner across the 60 minutes. Tara Dusée and Caitlyn Zabko split time in goal to combine for the shutout. On the other end, the Setters piled up 32 shots, placed 25 on goal and earned 20 penalty corners while producing exactly eight shots in each quarter.
The Setters return to action Wednesday, Sept. 23, when they travel to New Haven, CT, to open Northeast 10 Conference play against Southern Connecitcut State University at 5:30 p.m.
