Women’s Soccer’s Balanced Attack Powers Past Adelphi

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Four different goal scorers found the back of the net Tuesday night as the Setters put together a balanced offensive performance to secure a 4-2 Northeast 10 Conference victory over Adelphi University at Northwell Stadium.

Meredith Klosek, Ava Jordan and Bailey Olson all scored during an action-packed opening half before Juliana Procopio provided the insurance goal after the break, helping Pace University Women's Soccer improve to 8-3 overall and 2-2 in conference play.

Klosek wasted little time putting the Setters in front, opening the scoring just 7:13 into the contest. Adelphi responded six minutes later to bring the match even at 1-1, setting up a busy stretch later in the half.

Jordan restored the lead in the 28th minute, and Pace needed just 27 seconds to strike again. Olson found the net at 28:06 to suddenly stretch the advantage to 3-1.

Adelphi answered only 67 seconds later, cutting the margin to one at 3-2, but the Setters carried that advantage into halftime. Pace generated 10 shots during the opening 45 minutes, with six different players recording an attempt.

The Blue and Gold continued searching for breathing room after the break. Bindiya Wadhwani put an attempt on target in the 50th minute before Alyssa Blanchette forced another save in the 60th.

That pressure eventually produced the fourth goal in the 71st minute. Blanchette set up Procopio, who finished the opportunity at 70:29 to give Pace a 4-2 cushion. It marked Procopio's first goal of the night after entering off the bench.

Adelphi pushed forward over the final 20 minutes, but Siena McCree and the Setters' defense protected the two-goal advantage. McCree made four of her eight saves in the second half and kept the Panthers off the board after halftime.

Pace finished with 13 shots and placed eight on goal. Jordan put all three of her attempts on target, while Klosek and Blanchette each recorded three shots. Procopio scored on her lone attempt, and Blanchette supplied the Setters' only assist of the evening.

The Setters return home Saturday to welcome Saint Anselm College to Northwell Stadium for the annual Pace Goes Pink game, with kickoff at 3:00 p.m.
