Women's Soccer Pushes No. 15 Bentley Before Second-Half Setback

WALTHAM, Mass. – Alyssa Blanchette brought the Setters level early in the second half, but three unanswered goals from No. 15 Bentley University handed Pace University Women's Soccer a 4-1 defeat Tuesday afternoon. The loss moved Pace to 8-6 overall and 2-5 in Northeast 10 Conference play.

Bentley opened the scoring in the 20th minute and carried its one-goal advantage into halftime despite several opportunities from the Blue and Gold. Ava Jordan and Bindiya Wadhwani each tested the Falcons' goalkeeper during the opening 45 minutes, while Siena McCree made six saves to keep Pace within striking distance.

The Setters found their breakthrough in the 54th minute when Blanchette finished an opportunity created by Wadhwani and Bailey Olson, tying the contest at one. The goal gave Pace new life as the offense began generating more chances, with Jordan forcing three saves during the opening 17 minutes of the second half.

Bentley regained the lead in the 70th minute before adding another goal just over three minutes later. The Falcons extended their advantage in the 82nd minute to secure the victory.

Blanchette finished with a goal on two shots, while Wadhwani and Olson each recorded an assist. Jordan led Pace with four shots, all on target, and Simone Cassano added another attempt.

McCree played the full 90 minutes in goal, turning away 11 shots to reach double-digit saves for the second consecutive match.

Bentley held a 36-8 advantage in shots and a 14-3 edge in corner kicks, while Pace placed seven of its eight attempts on goal.

The Setters return to Northwell Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 24, to host Franklin Pierce University at 3:30 p.m. for senior day.
